For years as I traveled, I sent emails to family and friends who seemed to either enjoy traveling along, or were just too kind to say, “STOP”. Since they kept asking for more, I figure it’s their own fault either way! I also realized that I enjoyed reading the emails and responses after I returned, reliving the experiences and remembering details forgotten in the overload of bounding from one experience to another.

The email list was getting a bit unwieldly, and folks kept saying, “you ought to write a travel blog!” so I began to investigate standing up a simple blog from which to share. Or so I thought…

I truly did not wait until the last minute to get started, and I used to be somewhat technically savvy – but as time goes on, (“birthdays” my brother calls it), I find that I not only have to google technological terminology, I have to google every term that is given as an explanation to the term I just googled!! Is it just me?! And did I really just use “google” three times in the same sentence??

Setting up this blog site has been more difficult than I thought it would be, and now as people read this I’ll likely get lots of tips about how I should have done it. :0) I followed the seemingly very clear instructions on another blogger’s site, got stuck somewhere along the way, spent hours going through the same loops over and over, googling googled words, and finally called for help…only to be directed twice to an email address where I would write my plea, wait “24-72 hours”, receive no reply, and call again.

By the third attempt I was ready to call it quits, but gloriously reached a young man who not only explained what was going wrong, but patiently came to my rescue. He also prompted me three times on what ratings to give him (5,5,1) on the after-action survey, probably (maybe accurately) assuming I wouldn’t remember during the 30 seconds after he hung up.

But here we are, and I’ll try to make the best of it and improve over time as I learn to use the multitude of features. Hopefully the technology will only enhance the experience of traveling along. Stay in touch as much as you’d like. It helps me to know what resonates with you and keeps me writing when my eyelids get droopy.

So here we go. Hopefully you too can “Ramble Along”.
